Its a drive line vibration. I've changed both flex disks recently (it was needed), as well as the transmission mount. Both engine mounts are fine, I've checked them. The filter and the oil dipstick tube are under the engine cover. There should not be any dipstick actually. The filter is at the front of the engine on the left (to your right if you look at the engine from the front of the car). First time doing a coolant flush on the E320 CDI (OM648 engine). Did it yesterday (Sunday). Noted a few things. 1.) The stopcock for the radiator is kinda hidden, and I had to use some longnose pliers to get to it. 2.) Draining the radiator isn't quite as easy as it is on, say, a W220 because both hoses are in the middle of the radiator.
Figure 10 Remove the 17mm fastener (green arrow) that holds the spring/shock absorber assembly together. It is recessed in the upper shock absorber mount. Mercedes Benz uses a special socket to get to this fastener and another tool to hold the shock absorber shaft still while you remove the fastener.
